Local Libyan oil company, Al-Jowfe Oil Services, has agreed to supply the country’s Health Ministry with 9,000 litres / an average of 70,000 cylinders of medical grade oxygen per day.
The agreement came after Health Minister, Ali Al-Zanati, visited Al-Jowfe at its Benghazi headquarters yesterday.
Increasing strategic oxygen stock
The agreement will kick in next week and means that Al-Jowfe will start the process of supplying several hospitals and Coronavirus Isolation Centres with medical-grade oxygen, to contribute to increasing the health sector’s strategic oxygen stock, the Health Ministry explained.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Al-Jowfe, on the other hand, which is a subsidiary of the Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), said its oxygen contribution comes as part of its and the NOC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to its locality and Libyan people.
Electricity and security
The Health Ministry reported that during his visit to the company, the Minister Zanati communicated with his colleagues, the Ministers of Electricity and Interior, to provide two power transformers for Al-Jowfe’s oxygen factory on the one hand, and to secure and protect oxygen transport vehicles to and from the factory, hospitals, and Isolation Centres, on the other hand.
Establishing a mini clinic for Al-Jowfe
It was also agreed to study further the possibility of establishing a mini clinic for Al-Jowfe’s employees and equipping it in the required form, by communicating with the Health Ministry's office in the eastern region to complete its procedures.
