The Chairman of the Libyan Export Development Authority (LEDA), Mohamed Al-Hangari, met with the Minister of Marine Resources, Adel Sultan, to discuss avenues for cooperation and to review several files of mutual interest that contribute to supporting the national economy and enhancing investment and export opportunities.
Localising vessel manufacturing and aquaculture projects
The meeting addressed ways to cooperate in localising the manufacturing of boats, fishing vessels, and marine trawlers. Discussions also covered aquaculture projects and their development prospects, reviewing the memorandum of understanding related to this field, and exploring ways to utilize it to support related projects.
Concluding an MoU
The two sides also discussed the possibility of concluding a memorandum of understanding between the Authority and the Ministry of Marine Resources. This memorandum would aim to enhance the exchange of information and data and coordinate on projects and programmes related to the mandates of both the Authority and the Ministry.
Minister of Marine Resources, Adel Sultan, affirmed the Ministry's full readiness to cooperate with LEDA and support joint initiatives and projects. He commended the ideas presented by LEDA and emphasised the Ministry's commitment to building an effective partnership that contributes to achieving shared development goals.
The meeting was attended by several officials and specialists from both sides, including: the Director of the Marine Units Manufacturing Project at the Authority, the Director of the Fish Farming Project at the Authority, the Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Authority, the Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority, in addition to the Director of the Office of the Minister of Marine Resources, the Director of the International Cooperation Office at the Ministry, the Director of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Production, and the Director of the Department of Ports and Marine Fishing Harbors.
