Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) announced today that it had taken delivery of a Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 Mobile Harbour Crane arrived. Manufactured by Konecranes Gottwald, a leading German manufacturer of port and container handling equipment, MFZ said this crane is the first in a series of seven modern cranes with diverse capabilities and functions.

This comes as part of the development of the handling and logistics system at the MFZ Port and the enhancement of its operational capabilities.

These cranes, it revealed, will be delivered to the port in stages to improve handling efficiency, boost operational capacity, and support ongoing development and modernization plans to accommodate the increasing volume of ships and cargo.

The new crane, it added, boasts advanced operational capabilities, including a lifting capacity of 125 tons and an operating reach of 54 meters. It is also capable of efficiently handling container ships, general cargo vessels, and heavy shipments.

MFZ said this addition is expected to increase handling rates, reduce vessel waiting times, and improve the smooth flow of operations, thereby enhancing the port's competitiveness and reinforcing its position as a pivotal regional and international logistics and trade hub.
