The Ministry of Health announced Sunday the signing of a contract with the French Health Group for previously unavailable local treatment for tumours, bone marrow transplants, and microsurgery for children.
The contract includes the provision of French medical staff and the training of Libyan medical cadres at the Janzour Village Hospital as a first stage of the programme’s launch, to be followed by other hospitals.
The contract also includes sending cases that cannot be treated inside Libya, because of the lack of modern technologies, to France.
The Libyan Health Ministry reported that the contract is based on the agreement made between Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba and President Emmanuel Macron, during Aldabaiba's visit to France last June.
Sunday’s contract signing ceremony was preceded by a visit by the French delegation to Janzour Village Hospital (the first site of the programme's launch), to see the hospital's situation.
The Health Ministry reported that the French delegation expressed its admiration for the hospital and the level of equipment inside, and the programme's needs were identified to be launched in the next few days.
