A fashion exhibition entitled ‘‘Moda en femenino’’ (Women’s Fashion) opened yesterday, running from 22 to 25 June at the Dar el Saboon house in Tripoli’s Old City.
The exhibition, organised by the Spanish embassy, features seven fashion designers, three Libyan and four Spanish, namely: Nusaiba Idrez, Huda Hammuda, and Alaa Salama from Libya, while the Spanish designers were Mattui Collection, Chula Fashion, Coosy and Marisol.
The embassy says the exhibition will feature designs made by women for women with the aim of valuing the presence of the designers in the fashion industry.
It says fashion can thus be compared on both shores of the Mediterranean exhibiting the commonalities of the two cultures. The embassy says the fashion exhibition is part of its 2023 cultural programme.
Continuation of cultural events by some embassies The event follows the positive cultural contributions by some (but, by no means not all) embassies in Tripoli such as the ‘‘Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World’’ by the Italian embassy in December 2022.
But the holding of the fashion exhibition also continues the Spanish embassy’s enrichment of cultural life in Libya through the hosting of Flamenco dancers and the Spanish chamber music concert by “Concerto Málaga”, an Andalusian ensemble last December, and the Spanish Film Festival that started last year and ended in May.
